The Future of Sustainable Transport in Karlskrona
Karlskrona Sustainability Fest and The Energy and Transport Research Team at BTH invite you to participate of an action day for the co-creation of a Sustainable Transport System in Karlskrona on the 18th of September from 9 to 12 at BTH as a kick off Transformative Action Program 2: The Future of Mobility in Karlskrona.
One of the greatest environmental and societal challenges cities faces today lies in mobility. People need an extensive network of vehicles and transportations system to uphold societies and economies. Cars, Busses, Trains, Trucks, Boats and others modes of transport each leaving their permanent mark on the environment. Problems are evident at a local level: too much idle capacity of cars, traffic, lack of parking spots; and a global level increasing of CO2 (nearly one-third of global CO2 emissions comes from the transport of people and goods), oil-extraction pollutions, landfills, and oil-wars.
The method of our TAPs are based on The Quintuple Helix Innovation Model, a model of innovation that can tackle existing sustainability challenges through the application of knowledge and know-how as it focuses on the societal exchange and transfer of knowledge inside the subsystems of a specific state or nation-state (Carayannis, Barth and Campbell, 2012). Therefore, we aim to engage representative persons of the different subsystems (politic, academia, economy, society) for facilitating knowledge transfer and synergy building.
Come and join us on the 18th of September in an inspirational transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary panel discussion and action day (workshop) for excelling the sustainable development, co-evolution of knowledge and behavior change for a climate-resilient and sustainable city.
Some of the questions to be explored during the day are:
What is the current research and knowledge academia is leveraging to support innovations and the transitions towards sustainable transport in society? (key note and panel discussion)
What are the current innovations that reduce C02 emissions companies have developed to advance the sustainable transport transitions? (key note and panel discussion)
What is the stand point, new ideas, solutions, programs or inquires the political system is taking, and most important how sustainability and innovations minded-citizens can support and contribute actions for a green-shift transport? (Key note, panel discussion and workshop for distributed governance)
How sustainability leaders can engage at a city level to shape the mindsets, attitudes and behaviors of Karlskrona inhabitants to accelerate the creation of sustainable transport system? (workshop for behavior Change)
How the different sub-systems at a city level enhance physical human mobility for a better, healthier and happier life and can we shape mindsets, attitudes and behaviors towards enhanced physical mobility? (workshop for behavior Change)
How can knowledge and synergies building within the sub-systems of a city/nations happen efficiently ad constantly to accelerate the transition of cities towards sustainable transport system? (workshop for Constant flow of knowledge and synergy building across sub-systems)
Looking forward to co-create a greener, smarter and agile transport system in Karlskrona.
